Just a quick one today. With no new snow overnight in the region, we chose to avoid the crowds and ride local at Togari Onsen. The sky was clear this morning and it looked like temperatures were a little above freezing, so we expected a slushy day on the hill. The snow turned out to be surprisingly firm, with just enough softness left in the groomers to inspire confidence. Off-piste was still soft, but heavy.

We had a great day out riding lots of fast lines, groomers with side hits and the odd exploration a bit further off-piste. The beacons and avalanche gear were at home, this was a day for fun inbounds.

The forecast is for two days of warm and largely clear skies, before a cold wet front rolls in early on Wednesday. At this stage, we are expecting a decent dump throughout Wednesday and into the night, with Thursday being the next day to ignore your Instagram feed if you are not in Japan.

I am taking advantage of the clear 48 hours with a quick trip to Kyoto, check back in from Wednesday for the next update.
